THE HAMMERED DULCIMER

The hammered dulcimer is an ancient trapezoidal musical instrument played by striking the strings with wooden hammers.

Originating in the Middle East about 2000 years ago, English soldiers brought the instrument back to England after their failed attempt to conquer Persia during the Crusades about 1000 years ago. Dulcimers have many names in many lands: santur in the Middle East, yang q'in in China, hackbrett in Austria, zither in Germany, and cymbalom in Hungary. The name "dulcimer" is derived from Latin, meaning "sweet sound". Hammered dulcimers were popular in England during the reign of James I, when the Bible was translated into English as the King James Bible. The dulcimer was mentioned in the Book of Daniel 3:5 among other instruments "..the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick..." The dulcimer was later mechanized to become what we now know as the harpsichord which later evolved in the piano.

K.I.S.S.

K. (KEEP) I. (IT) S. (SIMPLE) S. (SILLY) I have been going overboard on the way I sign off of blogs. and so going back to some of the things I have learned,I'm adapting the K.I.S.S. and putting to how I comment. This way I do not have to do the long drawn out added things to the comments I make. I may put some stuff as a sign off. but I may not. This way hopefully I'll feel like commenting more.THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

Hubby says that all the time... just K.I.S.S.
He wonders if I ever stop talking long enough to breath. I can be that way on blogs too. But to each his own.
Whatever works for you is perfectly fine.

the thing is that there are times that sdding all the stuff just was no fun and so at times I would just not bother visiting or making a comment, so by K.I.S.S. mybe I'll be in the mood to comment more.

First, thank you for allowing me to advertise on your blog. I appreciate it very much.

I understand why you want to change the way you sign off on your comments. I remember the K.I.S.S., but I thought it stood for keep it simple stupid. Just saying.

Have a great day Mike. Big hug. :)
