I've been in my own boat sitting out in this water looking at this view. Awesome!-Sandee. This is a Tip of The Hat to Sandee, my Co-Author and blog wizard.

The Blogger's Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.

MtnGrl Musing: Music Monday

MtnGrl Musing: Music Monday
I am adding thisdue to the nature of her passing :

 Teena Marie was found dead in her Los Angeles home of an apparent grand mal seizure. She was 54 years old.

Born Mary Christine Brockert, Tenna Marie was a white woman who sang rhythm and blues. She signed with Motown in 1976 and teamed with funk legend, Rick James.

A seizure, according to the University of Michigan Health System, is an episode of abnormal electrical activity in the brain. A common seizure type is a grand mal seizure. It causes loss of consciousness, jerking or twitching of all four limbs, sometimes injury to the tongue or mouth, and sometimes urinary incontinence. Additional symptoms may include a pause in breathing and confusion and weakness following the event.

The Mayo Clinic states that grand mal seizures are sometimes caused by underlying health problems:

    * Very low levels of glucose, sodium, calcium, or magnesium
    * Traumatic head injuries
    * Using or withdrawing from drugs or alcohol
    * Brain tumors
    * Strokes
    * Certain infections such as encephalitis or meningitis
    * Injury due to a previous lack of oxygen
    * Blood vessel malformations in the brain
    * Genetic syndromes
Seizures are no fun,Thankfully I have not had a bad one in a long time.

  1. A very talented woman indeed. What a shame.

    I've seen a few grand mal seizures in my career. They are frightening to say the least. I'm glad you've not had a bad seizure in a very long time. Good for you.

    Is Celestine doing better?

    Have a terrific day Mike. Big hug. :)

  4. Thank you for posting it. I just wanted other people who don't know that the older names have changed:
    Petit Mal are Absence seizures
    Grand mal are Generalized tonic-clonic seizures. I feel old because I always have to look up the new names.

    In my career, I've seen many people actively having seizures. People need to know that they should not put anything in their mouth or try to restrain them...just move things out of the way and make sure their head is safe even if that means your hands get a bit scraped, but it is better than their head hitting the ground. I've had to do this...it has always been a no brainer to me.

    I am so glad that you haven't had one in a long time. I know how scary and how much it can take out of you. And, people are often quite embarrassed especially as you basically lose total control of your own body.

    Sorry to go on so...

  5. Clueless,when I was a Corrections Officer we were told to put our feet under the head of someone having a seizure that way they did not bange their head on the concrete floors.
    'The really sad thing is that people who have seizures are shunned by loved one because they are embarresed.
