MY HAMMERED DULCIMER

MY HAMMERED DULCIMER
There are various Hammered Dulcimer postings from YouTube of different tunes, and NO I AM NOT PLAYING ANY OF THESE TUNES.Maybe some day when I have the equipment to do so.I have included a link to my You Tube Channel.I invite you to go and watch any of my videos on the site also check out some of the different channels I subscribe to.

ABOUT THE HAMMERED DULCIMER

The hammered dulcimer is an ancient trapezoidal musical instrument played by striking the strings with wooden hammers.

Originating in the Middle East about 2000 years ago, English soldiers brought the instrument back to England after their failed attempt to conquer Persia during the Crusades about 1000 years ago. Dulcimers have many names in many lands: santur in the Middle East, yang q'in in China, hackbrett in Austria, zither in Germany, and cymbalom in Hungary. The name "dulcimer" is derived from Latin, meaning "sweet sound". Hammered dulcimers were popular in England during the reign of James I, when the Bible was translated into English as the King James Bible. The dulcimer was mentioned in the Book of Daniel 3:5 among other instruments "..the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music..." The dulcimer was later mechanized to become what we now know as the harpsichord which later evolved in the piano.

THE SERENITY PRAYER

THE SERENITY PRAYER
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen. - Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)

Did you lose some Google Blogger "Followers"?? Every one needs to do this on there blogs to restore their followers.

I looked at my Google Blogger "Follow this blog" list, and noticed that the number had dropped overnight. Well it looks like The Daily Blonde has the answer. To fix it go to "dashboard", on the left you will see "manage" click on that. To the right of each blog if you see "anonymously", that needs to be changed to "publicly." Now you will appear on that person's blog. I imagine they have to do the same to reappear on your blog. So spread the word! If you have trouble go to The Daily Blonde and read her post. She has more information. Good luck!

case of point on your dashboard where it says blogs I follow, than click on manage.

1 Blog and 2 Sides.... - 36 followers
http://chillyscookin.blogspot.com/
Now if you do not see the word public, than you need to click the down arrow and change to public. than you will be shown on the blog that you are following. I hope this helps you.
View in Google Reader

I've also noticed Google Blogger Blogs have been temporally disappearing. Not the whole blog, but the posts disappear. I was told that mine disappeared, and I noticed two others did also. You can still go to a post from your reader, but you have to click on the individual post, or the posts won't show. If anyone has information on that please let me know.

Stephany has a great posting today called "choose life one day at a time"

what the?

Either I just lost 10 followers overnight or blogger is really screwed up again.

My Letter of Resignation

My Resignation Letter

To Whom it May Concern,

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.

I want to go to McDonald’s and think that it’s a four star restaurant…

I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.

I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.

I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer’s day. I want to return to a time when life was simple, when all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn’t bother you, because you didn’t know what you didn’t know and you didn’t care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.

I want to think the world is fair.

That everyone is honest and good.

I want to believe that anything is possible. I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.

I want to live simply again. I don’t want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones…

I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.

So . . here’s my checkbook and my car keys, my credit card bills and my stocks. I am officially resigning from adulthood.

And if you want to discuss this further, you’ll have to catch me first, cause……..

……”Tag! You’re it.”

Pass this to someone and brighten their day by helping them remember the Simple things in Life.

:-PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP signed Mikey.

I got this from Ana,and she said to pass this alond so I am. Please feel free to copy the letter and post it to your site to brighten some one's day!

feeling violated.

I feel violated.some one pulled off the window covering from our back basement window in an attempt to gain entry into our home.I'm glad that we have burglar bars on the windows.
I know that we do not have a lot of stuff worth stealing. it just really pisses me off that some damn low life tried to get into our home.My biggest fear is that we will be sleeping and our home gets broken into.
I guess that we will just to have to do something else to protect our home that we cannot afford.
I'm really depressed.

WTF??????????????? this just ticks me off to no end!!!!!

Betty over at this and that has posted an update on her hubby Ed,and it is not good folks,We need to really step up the prayers for hium.

a rotten day

yep folks I had a rotten day with a monster of a headache and while having a seizure I banged my head into the hard part of the couch.I ended up sleeping about 3 1/2 hours.just finished dinner.
We wedge a chair between the couch and my recining chair to try to keep me from falling onto the floor while having a seizure and or just rolling over. The last time that happened I hit my head on a floor lamp. This is an old floor lamp the my inlaws, and they got it from their inlaws. So needless to say this thing is quite old and heavy, and man does that hurt hitting it.

Epilepsy (something I live with)

Shattering the Myth of Epilepsy
By Patricia Greco
Publication Date: 02/15/2009
More than 3 million Americans have epilepsy, and 200,000 cases are identified annually, yet the disorder remains the object of misconceptions. “Many people think that epilepsy means having grand mal seizures—the ones you see on ER, with convulsions,” says Dr. Carl W. Bazil, director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Columbia University Medical Center. “Those are the most obvious seizures, but they are not the most common.”

Having two or more seizures as a result of abnormal electrical activity in the brain generally warrants a diagnosis of epilepsy. But the kinds of seizures depend on the parts of the brain affected. Often, seizures appear subtle: hands twitch, lips smack, eyes flutter or stare blankly. “The average person whose seizures are not fully controlled will have them perhaps two or three times a month,” says Dr. Orrin Devinsky, director of the New York University Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. “Then there are the less than 5% who have severe cases, some having hundreds of minor seizures a day.”this is where I fit in.

Many people assume the disorder is due to genetics or a brain injury (increasingly common among Iraq War veterans). But 70% of the time, the cause is a mystery. As many as seven in 10 people with epilepsy respond to medication. Other options—including surgery and special diets—may provide relief to those who aren’t helped by drugs.
I refuse to allow any surgery. The diet is not helping much.

I got this from Parade magazine.

A prayer request.

Betty over at this and that is asking for prayers. follow the link to offer morale support.

FYI beware of the "antivirus 2009" ads.

Malware trips up Cleveland.com on Saturday

Posted by Plain Dealer Staff February 07, 2009 23:17PM

Categories: FYI

Cleveland.com experienced technical difficulties Saturday because of a malicious computer program from an advertisement on the Web site.

The malware program "Antivirus 2009" might have been distributed to visitors' computers through pages on the Web site.

"Antivirus 2009" presents itself as an anti-virus program using pop-ups and phony alerts to signal that malicious software is on the computer. The Trojan horse prompts users to download software to fix the problem but redirects them to a new Web site.

The problem surfaced after noon Saturday and was resolved at 8:30 p.m.

Users complained of having to manually close their Web browsers to avoid multiple pop-ups and the initiation of fake virus scans.

Users who believe their computer was infected can run a scan with legitimate anti-virus software such as Norton, Kaspersky or Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Please note Malwarebytes is a free program and it works great.I got nailed by the antivirus 2009 several months ago and it too me a while to wipe out that trojan!!

The Blogger's Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.
