The Blogger's Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.

seen on Facebook.

Karen Jensen posted this:May I ask a personal favor..... Only some of you will do it, and I know who you are. If you know someone who fought cancer and won, or fought cancer and died, or someone who is still fighting please add this to your status for 1 hour as a mark of respect and in remembrance. I hope I was right… about the people who will

About Celestine.

Celestine came home last night the oozing had stopped. They think the compression stockings that she was wearing had contributed to the problem they bandaged the wound and told her not to wear the stockings and that hot water on the leg from the shower she took just before putting on the stocking weakened the area. Which is just great. One Doctor say do this than a different one don't do that.

National Smoke Out Day!! by Clueless

Clueless here writing from Southern California.  The American Cancer Society holds the Great American Smokeout® every year on the third Thursday in November. This year the Great American Smokeout® will take place today. The purpose of the event is to set aside a day to help smokers quit smoking, quit using tobacco products, for at least one day, with the hope that they will quit completely. Not only does the event challenge people to stop using tobacco, it helps to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking and the many effective ways available to quit smoking permanently.
Research shows that smokers are most successful in kicking the habit when they have some means of support, such as nicotine replacement products, counseling, prescription medicine to lessen cravings, guide books, and the encouragement of friends and family members.

The first week of November was Lung Cancer Awareness Week. It is also probably one of the most difficult post that I’ve written as my father-in-law passed away in April 2009 approximately one month after being diagnosed. He thought he had cough from a cold that would go away and did not follow through with a suspecious chest xray taken a few years before. Yes, he was a smoker who had quit almost four decades prior. My Grandmother also passed away in February of this year from some unknown lung disease.  I have also watched many of my former clients slowly die from this disease. Due to my respiratory problems since March of last year, I know how scary it feels to not be able to breathe.

Approximately, 50-60% of non smokers comprise those diagnosed with lung cancer. This figure includes people who receive second-hand smoke, smoker who have quit for decades and those who have the disease for unknown reasons. Lung cancer does not discriminate. People are young, older, poor, rich, of different races, different genders, different occupations, in good health or in poor health. However, your risk does increase if your sexual partner smokes.

Lung Cancer Awareness Month is a national campaign dedicated to increasing attention to lung cancer issues. By organizing rallies, distributing educational material, holding fund-raising events, contacting Congress, and speaking to the media, those involved in LCAM bring much-needed support and attention to a disease that each year kills more people than breast, prostate, colon and pancreas cancers combined. Worldwide it kills approximately 1.4 million deaths per year. Even with treatment the five-year survival rate is 14% per year.

Suggestions for prevention of lung cancer include don’t start smoking, stop smoking NOW, avoid second-hand smoke, test your home for radon, avoid carcinogens at work, eat a diet full of fruits and vegetables, don’t drink or if you you do drink in moderation, and exercise. Smoking is the number one cause of lung cancer. In the United States, it estimated that 90% of men and 85% of women are or were smokers. The number of years and the number of cigarettes also impacts the the risk of developing lung cancer. Join the Great American Smoke out on November 19, 2009.

Having several seizures were not.
I do have to ask for prayers for my Cousin's wife Cindy, last week she was taken to the hospital with chest pains.the good news is that she did not have a heart attack(YET).they did a stress test on her and determined the her blood flow is quite low and that she needs to see a cardiologist and will need a heart catheration. Please keep her in your prayers.

A Personal Milestone.

I have been writing about my attempt to loose weight for some time now. My highest weight this time was 316 lbs.(something that I was not proud of) I stepped on the scale just before taking my daily shower and was pleasantly surprised that I have finally broke thorough the plateau that I have been holding at for a couple of weeks.I am now at 286 lbs.that's right 286 for a total of 30 lbs down.My ultimate goal is to be under 250 lbs. I would love to be at my high school weight of 215 lbs,I really would, unfortunately the last time I was at that weight I was in the 11 Th grade. Some 38 years ago.I ams still limited in the way I do exersize due to the seizures and have been doing the portion cintrol method of weight loss.

On A personal Note.

Today has not been a good day at all. Our new windows that were installed last week were stained and today the person that stained them came back to finish the job. I cannot remember what he had to do today. It was some kind of clear coating that he needed to do. This triggered an asthma attack and I needed to do a breathing treatment. After the treatment I was coughing up a lot of junk. This happened several times and I also had a couple of seizures to boot.

Needless to say this has been a really bad day. I had several seizures after I had dinner. So I'm exhausted, and am going to bed very soon. I did not visit with many people today and barely commented on anyone's blog at all.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day. Take a minute to say a prayer for all our service people now serving and those that have served. I hope every on says a special prayer for the victims of the senseless attack that left 12 dead.

an Update on my MIL

well a visiting nurse was at my Mil's house today. My wife was there and the nurse said that some of her problems were caused by a build up of one of her medications, dioxin. The medication was becoming toxic to her since she had a big weight loss.So while she was in the hospital that medication was stopped and she was told not to take it at home also.I would guess that she will not be taking this medication untill the toxicity is out of her system, and then an adjustment will have to be made in how much she takes if she is even allowed to go back on this drug at all.
