The Blogger's Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.

A Passing

Yesterday Bernard Schwartz passed away.

Of course he is better know as:Tony Curtis
(June 3, 1925 — September 29, 2010) was an American film actor. He played a variety of roles, from light comedy, such as the musician on the run from gangsters in Some Like It Hot, to serious dramatic roles, such as an escaped convict in The Defiant Ones, which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor. From 1949, he appeared in more than 100 films and made frequent television appearances.

This Weeks Post Was Suggested By Lt. Schneider

Cpl. Brian Downard
Cpl. Brian Downard
U.S. Marines

Brian Downard was 23 years old, a father, a country music fan, and a corporal of Marines. He joined the Marine Corps in July of 2005, and would do two deployments to two different scenic locales. The first was to Iraq, where he served from November of ’06 to April of the following year. While in Iraq, Brian suffered a concussion from an IED strike while patrolling. Undeterred, Brian stayed in the Marines and deployed to Burma in 2008 when Marines and sailors with the Essex Amphibious Readiness Group provided humanitarian assistance operations to aid the cyclone-stricken country. He would eventually leave the service just last July, after four honorable years of service.

One month after separation, he discovered that he had testicular cancer, and a very aggressive strain at that. The cancer spread quickly to his muscles and fatty tissues, and Brian suffered so greatly with the pain that they put him on morphine. He was released from the VA to enjoy his last days with the love from his mom and his 7-year-old son Jesse.

You can read the rest of Cpl. Downard's story here.

Sunday Thought

I recieved this as an email.I decided to share it with everyone as this weeks Sunday Thought.
To you with love -

    Concentrate on this sentence

"To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did". When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.

    Concentrate on this sentence.

"The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you." Something good will happen to you today, something that you have been waiting for.

Please do not break. Just 27 Words.

God our Father, walk through my house and take away all my worries and illnesses and please watch over and heal my family - in Jesus name, Amen.

This prayer is so powerful. Pass this to 12 people including me. A blessing is coming to you in form of a new job, a house, marriage or financially. Do not break or ask questions. This is a test. Does God come first in your life? If so, stop what you're doing & send it to 12 people now. Watch what he does.

I had an enjoyable time playing with my Mother-in-law. She even offered to let me take it home to play,I had to refuse,I would have never wanted to give it back. Santa Clause,it would be nice if I found this under the Christmas tree with the sports package.(hint hint)
Now to try to catch up with my visiting and my drops.

maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I have heard of this scam too many times to believe it.I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's because of the situation of things right now.

I'm stuck in London,England with my family right now, we are here on a short vacation then I was robbed, worse of it is that bags, cash, cards with my cell phone was stolen at GUN POINT, it was such a crazy experience for us and we need help flying back home, the authorities are not being 100% supportive but the good thing is we still have our passports
and return tickets but currently having troubles paying off the hotel bills and also getting a cab to take us to the airport.

All we need is $1,850.00 but anything you can spare right now will be appreciated and I promise to refund it to you as soon as I arrive back home safely.. You have my word!!

Thanks,
Nick

Nick if this is true I will keep you in my prayers if not than shame on you scammer!

it's Saturday so....

Driving as we age............

1 picture is worth a 1000 words...

A special note. This was going to be posted last weekend I chose not to just because I wanted to honor all those that died on Sept 11 2001.

Silly saturday

* Just accept that, some days, you're the pigeon: and, some days, you're the statue.

* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

* Always wear stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be "recalled" by their maker.

* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to be kind to others.

* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.

* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

* The second mouse gets the cheese.

* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

With my thanks to Sandee for this one.

and if you got a chance go for a visit with my friend Ferd to see a great posting.

A Good Day.

We here at Golch Central go an Early start today. first off I had a 9:30 Am Dental appointment. where they extracted a tooth the gum is healing great.(it is a concern since I have to take bonivia injections) Afterwards we stopped and picked up lunch. Than I took a short nap.and tacked my adjustable bed. I had to R and (remove and replace) the bed motor and replace the beds hinges. It took me a while but I did manage to do that with just having 1 seizure and a minor asthma attack.

Saturday, September 11, 2010

it's about having fun.

I got to attend a birthday party for my Cousin Keith's grandson Christian who is one year old.I had a wonderful time. I had some seizures and everyone was accepting about that.there was some good food, kielbasa and sauerkraut homemade baked beans, cabbage and noodles, meatballs and rigatoni, hot dogs and hamburgs.Good food fun times with family.

9/11/01 NEVER FORGET

I want to add this,I left it as a comment on a 9/11 posting. Let's just not condemn the whole Muslim world. If we do that than we fall into the same mentality the was prevalent during WW2 "the only good Jap was a dead one" and or that same thing was said about the Germans Hell we locked up a lot of people in camps because of who they were here in America.

This week I featured Harvey my 17 year old cat as the AWW...Monday posting. I posted this answer to a comment left by Syd.
Syd, when our other babies RJ, Tigger, and BC were with us the bed would get quite crowded at night along with Harvey.each Cat would claim a different part of the bed. Tigger was a very timid girl kitty, the rest of the boys would gang up on her.so she would sneak uponto the bed and squeeze between our pillows at night.the fun part woud be when tigger would "pet" my nose.Unfortunaly we do not have pictures of the other cats that I can find.

I just had to

when I say this I just had to post it here as well,Ana I thank you for this one!

and let's not forget to go snipe huttings as well.

Pvt. Barney F. Hajiro
Pvt. Barney F. Hajiro
93 years old from Waipahu, Hawaii
442nd Regimental Combat Team
U.S. Army

On September 16 Mr. Hajiro will turn 94 years old. His family immigrated from Japan during WWI and he had to drop out of school and work to help support his family. After Pearl Harbor was attacked he was drafted in the United States Army. In March 1943, he volunteered to join the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, composed of Nisei (second-generation Japanese Americans) like himself. He was shipped to Europe in 1944 first to Italy then to France where, over ten days in October, Pvt. Hajiro repeatedly distinguished himself in battle by exposing himself to enemy fire while assisting an allied attack. On October 29, 1944 Pvt. Hajiro single-handedly destroyed two German machine gun emplacements before being shot in the shoulder and wrist partially paralyzing his left arm. For his actions he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. In 1948 he was awarded the Military Medal by the British government, in 2000 was was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Bill Clinton and in 2004 he was awarded the Légion d'honneur by France. Barney F. Hajiro is the oldest living Medal Of Honor recipient.

From his Medal Of Honor Citation:

For The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Barney F. Hajiro, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Company I, 3d Battalion, 442d Regimental Combat Team, attached to the 36th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 19, 22, and 29 October 1944, in the vicinity of Bruyeres and Biffontaine, eastern France. Private Hajiro, while acting as a sentry on top of an embankment on 19 October 1944, in the vicinity of Bruyeres, France, rendered assistance to allied troops attacking a house 200 yards away by exposing himself to enemy fire and directing fire at an enemy strong point. He assisted the unit on his right by firing his automatic rifle and killing or wounding two enemy snipers. On 22 October 1944, he and one comrade took up an outpost security position about 50 yards to the right front of their platoon, concealed themselves, and ambushed an 18-man, heavily armed, enemy patrol, killing two, wounding one, and taking the remainder as prisoners. On 29 October 1944, in a wooded area in the vicinity of Biffontaine, France, Private Hajiro initiated an attack up the slope of a hill referred to as "Suicide Hill" by running forward approximately 100 yards under fire. He then advanced ahead of his comrades about ten yards, drawing fire and spotting camouflaged machine gun nests. He fearlessly met fire with fire and single-handedly destroyed two machine gun nests and killed two enemy snipers. As a result of Private Hajiro's heroic actions, the attack was successful. Private Hajiro's extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon him, his unit, and the United States Army.

Baseball is a red-blooded sport for red-blooded men. It's no pink tea, and mollycoddles had better stay out. It's a struggle for supremacy, a survival of the fittest.
Ty Cobb

Tyrus Raymond "Ty" Cobb (December 18, 1886 – July 17, 1961), nicknamed "The Georgia Peach," was an American outfielder in baseball born in Narrows, Georgia.[1] Cobb spent 22 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, the last six as the team's player-manager, and finished his career with the Philadelphia Athletics.
