The Blogger's Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.

It's award time again.

I just got this award from my friend Cliff. here is what he said about me and the award.

Another first timer is Michael Golch. He gets the "Let's add legs to our prayers" Top Banana. His blog is called Rambling Stuff aka Golch Central. Michael is one who jumps on top of prayer requests at other blogs and will either post them on his blog or at the Prayer Hubs. He is a very avid reader of other blogs and goes to those I recommend quite often.

A Prayer Request.

I was just visiting with one of my blogging friends where I read that a close friend suffered a terrible loss.Their child that had been visiting for Christmas was killed in an accident on the freeway. Please go and offer a word or two

A prayer request

Yesterday My nephew Jason went to help his brother move to a new apartment on Long Island.
Sometime between 4 AM and 6AM he was in an accident where he rolled his truck while on a freeway. His face is all bruised up due to the airbag inflating, his shoulder is messed up.and the truck may have been totalled. His Father who just so happened to be on vacation went to pick up jason and they both continued on to Long Island to Help my nephew Richie Please Keep Jason and Richard SR. in your prayers that they have a safe travel back here to Ohio.

A milestone that I forgot to post about.

Twelve days ago I hit an important milestone and did not post about it. I do not want people to think that I'm blowing my own horn here,it's just that I want everyone to celebrate this with me.
December 17,1990 is when I got sober. That has amounted to 19 years of one day at a time.THANK YOU GOD FOR MY SOBERITY!!!!

Love has no bounds,a Life lession

I saw this on Silly Willy andFluffy's site.It also goes along with a lesson that my late Father,Philip Richard Golch taught me. Yes you may have it bad off, there is some one just ahead that has got it worse, and the best thing that you can do is to make the best of a bad situation. THIS YOUNG MAN IS A HERO IN MY BOOK!!

Saturday, December 26, 2009

I have a blogger friend Jeremy who is asking for prayers,Here is what he posted on his site::
I just got this email from a longtime friend of mine. Alisha Pratt is someone I have gone to church with for years. Her family is unfortunately hitting some hard times and so she sent this email.

"Good evening all! I hope that each of you have enjoyed your Christmas and that you got a chance to celebrate with the ones you love. I wish I was writing just to say Merry Christmas but I am also writing to ask that you remember my uncle (Bill Shults)
in your thoughts and prayers."

"Christmas Eve my aunt called 911 because he was unable to breathe. My uncle has been on the heart transplant list for years, has a defibulator and pacemaker and over half his heart muscle is dead, the past few months his health has declined rapidly. Upon getting to the hospital he was immediately sent to ICU and put on a bipap ventilator and in the past two days made no progress, they said that he is in congestive heart failure and are trying to treat it. Today he has slept most of the the day and has really struggled to move air. Please also keep the doctors and nurses that are taking care of him in your prayers as well as he is quite complex right now."

"My uncles wife Vicki is not healthy herself, they have a 13 year old Autistic son and 33 year old mental handicapped daughter - please keep them in your prayers as well as they are struggling with my uncle being so sick."

"Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers. I'll keep you update as I know more the next few days.
Love you!
Alisha"

This request speaks for itself so I now lift it to Jesus and ask you kind folks to join me.

'Lord, Mr. Ford' (Jerry Reed)

he just crakes me up with some of his songs.

things are getting better.

As the preceding video shows I'm getting better and feeling a little on the silly side again!

I JUST HAD TO SWIPE THIS ONE.

Lakewood police officer says little boy's kindness restores hope

by DREW MIKKELSEN / KING5 News

LAKEWOOD, Wash. - A Lakewood police officer, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he was inspired to write the following Christmas letter earlier this week.

The officer credits one small boy's donation of support to the Lakewood Police Department as the big reason he has regained hope for this holiday season.

The officer sent it to friends, family members and other law enforcement officers.

A Tukwila police officer received the officer's permission to release it to the public:

I'm not much for writing Christmas letters, and in fact this year, I didn't even feel like making the effort of buying and addressing Christmas cards at all. I'm sure you all have heard of the terrible tragedy that occurred here in Lakewood two weeks ago today - four of our officers, four people that have become my friends over the past 5 years as we all worked here together, were gunned down as they sat in a coffee shop. Three fathers and a mother - all of whom were dedicated to their jobs and their families - now dead. The grief at our station and in our community has been overwhelming and we have all now just barely begun to process what this means for our department and for police departments all across our state and nation. Several times since this event happened, police agencies have responded to reports of individuals across King and Pierce Counties causing commotions and claiming to be planning to kill more officers. We do our best to maintain our composure and continue to do our jobs the best that we can.

It is hard not to remain bleak and jaded with these events so fresh in our minds. But something happened today, just 20 minutes ago, which made me want to send out a Christmas letter. I'm here at work and was just out in our secure parking lot helping another officer load collection bins into his car to take to a local Lakewood Police Independent Guild fundraiser event. I heard a woman, standing with a boy who couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 years old, calling, "Excuse me…." through our locked gate. She had apparently been trying to get to our front counter but found no one there, it being Sunday, and had just happened to see us in the parking lot. I walked over to her and saw that the little boy was holding a plastic baggy containing a dollar and some change, and was clutching a well-worn stuffed dinosaur.

The woman told me that her son, AJ, had seen the stories on tv about our 4 slain officers. She said that they had driven to our station all the way from Kingston because her son was so intent on helping the children of these officers. I opened the gate and the boy handed me the plastic baggy containing all the money from his piggybank and a note on which he had written "AJ….From me to Pleec. I Love You." And then, with tears in his eyes, he handed me his stuffed dinosaur. AJ's mom explained that he wanted to give the children of the slain officers the most precious thing that he owned, and that was his dinosaur, Bruno.

I told AJ that I would take the money that he wanted to donate, but that I thought the best thing he could do for the children of our 4 officers was to keep Bruno safe with him but to keep those kids in his heart when he hugged his dinosaur. He agreed and gratefully took Bruno back from me and held him tightly as if he never wanted to let him go again.

We have seen many, many acts of generosity and kindness over the past 2 weeks. We have hugged more friends and strangers than we could have ever imagined and have mended broken ties with people we haven't talked to for years. Yet nothing has touched me deeper, or given me more hope for the future, than AJ and his stuffed dinosaur. I gave AJ one of our department challenge coins, explaining to him that we only gave them out to the bravest and most deserving people we came across. I hope he will realize someday how much more than a dollar and some change he gave to me and to the Lakewood Police Department today.

So anyway, none of that is about Christmas, but it is about hope and love and I thought it was appropriate to share this holiday season.

I hope this letter finds all of you well and eager to spend the holidays with those you love. Squeeze everyone a little tighter and hug them a little longer today because life really is precious. Merry Christmas!
I have to give a big thank you to the blogger of PICTURE OF EXPERIENCE

this will take me a while to type this out.I have to watch which key I hit. My Doctor just gave me instructions that I need to stop taking the medication that was just prescribed.it will take a while for me to get off the medication. I go from 3 pills a day to 2 for 5 days, than 1 pill for 5 days and than 1/2 a pill for 2 days than none after that. The reason is that this medication can be additive and I need to step in down slow to avoid problems.

So If I'm not around much this is the reason.

We Didn't Start the Fire - 1860-1920

A blast from the past!

SUNDAY THOUGHTS.

O creator past all telling,
you have appointed from the treasures of your wisdom
the hierarchies of angels,
disposing them in wondrous order
above the bright heavens,
and have so beautifully set out all parts of the universe.

Thomas Aquinas: The image of God in man is in ...Image via Wikipedia

You we call the true fount of wisdom
and the noble origin of all things.
Be pleased to shed
on the darkness of mind in which I was born,
The twofold beam of your light
and warmth to dispel my ignorance and sin.

You make eloquent the tongues of children.
Then instruct my speech
and touch my lips with graciousness.
Make me keen to understand, quick to learn,
able to remember;
make me delicate to interpret and ready to speak.

Guide my going in and going forward,
lead home my going forth.
You are true God and true man,
and live for ever and ever.

a list of novelty Chrismas songs.

Just for the heck of itI decided to to post this list. The highlighted stuff was supposed to link to wikipedia but does not.
Another form of popular Christmas song are those musical parodies performed solely for comical effect, usually classified as "Novelty songs". The best known of these include:

Even Cheech and Chong got into the act with "Santa Claus and His Old Lady" recorded in 1971.

In 2007, The Killers released Don't Shoot Me Santa; a song which benefited various AIDS charities.

A more recent example of a novelty Christmas song is "Damn it, I'm Vixen" performed by Brian Beathard, in 1997.

Christmas novelty songs can involve gallows humor and even morbid humor like that found in "Christmas at Ground Zero" and "The Night Santa Went Crazy", both by "Weird Al" Yankovic.[16] Radio personality Bob Rivers has parlayed the format into several albums in the Twisted Christmas line.

The number of Christmas novelty songs is so immense that radio host Dr. Demento devotes an entire month of weekly two-hour episodes to the format each year, and the novelty songs receive frequent requests at radio stations across the country.

The Dan Band released several adult oriented Christmas songs on their 2007 album "Ho: A Dan Band Christmas" which included "Ho, Ho, Ho" (ho being slang for a prostitute), "I Wanna Rock You Hard This Christmas", "Please Don't Bomb Nobody This Holiday" and "Get Drunk & Make Out This Christmas".

The Skandles released a Christmas Rap and R & B parody of Rihanna, Snoop Dogg and Biggie Smalls to Airplay Direct on Dec. 9th, 2009 called "The Elf That Jacked Christmas".

A Rant

I just love the digital television broadcasts NOT Yesterday during shows that Celestine and I watch the fuc&en signals keep cutting out.I do not know if it was being caused by the high gusting winds that we had yesterday or was it the incompetent operations people at the stations.needless to say we were extremely pissed off. Last year when we STILL had the analog signals high winds did NOT interrupt the signal at all. when they switch over to the digital broadcast signals the did not have the transmitters totally perfected AND STILL DO NOT.THANKS A LOT Federal Communication Commission. Why in the hell can't you people get you act together,HUH????

Arlington National Cemetery

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell...

Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

DECEMBER 7,1941

These are amazing photos!
Photos taken on 7 December 1941, but not developed until 2009. The camera was the old Brownie camera like my Mother used over 70 years ago...
The photos are unbelievable...

Isn't is amazing how a film could last so long in a camera without disintegrating?

Fantastic photos taken 68 years ago. Some of you will have to go to a museum to see what a Brownie camera looked like?

Here is a simple picture of what we are talking about. . .

These photos are absolutely incredible...Read below the first picture and at the end...

PHOTOS STORED IN AN OLD BROWNIE CAMERA

Thought you might find these photos very interesting; what quality from 1941.
Pearl Harbor photos found in an old Brownie stored in a foot locker. and just recently

PEARL HARBOR

December 7th, 1941

Pearl Harbor

On Sunday, December 7th, 1941 the Japanese launched a surprise attack against the U.S. Forces stationed at Pearl Harbor , Hawaii By planning this attack on a Sunday, the Japanese commander Admiral Nagumo, hoped to catch the entire fleet in port. As luck would have it, the Aircraft Carriers and one of the Battleships were not in port. (The USS Enterprise was returning from Wake Island , where it had just delivered some aircraft. The USS Lexington was ferrying aircraft to Midway, and the USS Saratoga and USS Colorado were undergoing repairs in the United States .)

In spite of the latest intelligence reports about the missing aircraft carriers (his most important targets), Admiral Nagumo decided to continue the attack with his force of six carriers and 423 aircraft. At a range of 230 miles north of Oahu , he launched the first wave of a two-wave attack. Beginning at 0600 hours his first wave consisted of 183 fighters and torpedo bombers which struck at the fleet in Pearl Harbor and the airfields in Hickam, Kaneohe and Ewa. The second strike, launched at 0715 hours, consisted of 167 aircraft, which again struck at the same targets.

At 0753 hours the first wave consisting of 40 Nakajima B5N2 'Kate' torpedo bombers, 51 Aichi D3A1 'Val' dive bombers, 50 high altitude bombers and 43 Zeros struck airfields and Pearl Harbor Within the next hour, the second wave arrived and continued the attack.
