ABOUT THE HAMMERED DULCIMER
Originating in the Middle East about 2000 years ago, English soldiers brought the instrument back to England after their failed attempt to conquer Persia during the Crusades about 1000 years ago. Dulcimers have many names in many lands: santur in the Middle East, yang q'in in China, hackbrett in Austria, zither in Germany, and cymbalom in Hungary. The name "dulcimer" is derived from Latin, meaning "sweet sound". Hammered dulcimers were popular in England during the reign of James I, when the Bible was translated into English as the King James Bible. The dulcimer was mentioned in the Book of Daniel 3:5 among other instruments "..the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music..." The dulcimer was later mechanized to become what we now know as the harpsichord which later evolved in the piano.

THE SERENITY PRAYER
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. A Sunday Thought
THE
BRICK
A young and successful
executive was traveling down a neighborhood street,
going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar.. He was
watching for kids darting out from between parked
cars and slowed down when he thought he saw
something.
As his car passed, no children appeared.
Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!
He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to
the spot where the brick had been thrown.
The angry
driver then jumped out of the
car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up
against a parked car shouting,
'What was that all about and who are you? Just what
the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that
brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why
did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic.
'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't
know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the
brick because no one else would stop....' With tears
dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth
pointed to a spot just around a parked car.. 'It's my
brother, 'he said 'He rolled off the curb and fell
out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him
up.'
Now sobbing, the boy
asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please help
me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and
he's too heavy for me.'
Moved beyond words,
the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling
lump in his throat... He hurriedly lifted the
handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took
out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh
scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything
was going to be okay. 'Thank you and may God bless
you,' the grateful child told the stranger. Too
shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy!
push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk
toward their home..
It was a long, slow
walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very
noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair
the dented side door. He kept the dent there to
remind him of this message: 'Don't go through life
so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to
get your attention!' God whispers in our souls and
speaks to our hearts Sometimes when we don't have
time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's
our choice to listen or
not.
Thought for the
Day:
If God had a
refrigerator, your picture would be on
it.
If He had a wallet,
your photo would be in
it.
He sends you flowers
every spring.
He sends you a sunrise
every morning Face it, friend - He is crazy about
you!
Send this to every
'beautiful person' you wish to
bless.
God didn't promise
days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun
without rain, but He did promise strength for the
day, comfort for the tears, and light for the
way.
Read this line very
slowly and let it sink
in...
If God brings you to
it, He will bring you through
it.

Does God Love Homosexuals?
According to most researchers, genetics plays a major role when it comes to sexual orientation. Although the environment and experiences may also affect one's choice and preference, it is rarely the case that a person should suddenly become or turn gay overnight. In those instances, it may be that the person already had genetic predisposition, but decided to ignore or reject those tendencies.
The dilemma concerning sexual orientation and religion may run something like this: Should the person give in to his sexual urges or should he fight against them? If, as some religious groups claim, it is against nature and hence against God's will, then why are they created in this manner in the first place by God Himself? Does God like to make people suffer? Or is God testing the faith of homosexual people by giving them extra challenges?
The first one is out of the question because it is in direct violation to the definition of God's attributes. The second question deals with temptation, but why would gays be singled out? Why make it more difficult for them and why deny them to obey and follow their natural inclination? It is in fact the Catch 22 of homosexual love: From the person's view it is a natural choice, whereas from society's view it is supposedly an act of “perversion against nature.” Either way, the homosexual is doomed.
Now what about overcoming the homosexual impulses and become, more or less, straight? This proposition is fraught with many difficulties. What good would it be if the homosexual person establishes a family based on lies, make believe and pretense? Who is ultimately benefiting from this charade? The wife will not have a husband, and the homosexual man will not be happy with his lifestyle, while their children, should there be any, will be confused by the behavior of both of their parents.
Nobody would win in that situation so that it seems to be out of question as well unless you believe that homosexuality is a “disease” that can be “cured.” But if you are calling one's sexual orientation, which we have agreed upon as genetically programmed, then one's skin color could also fall in this ominous category of “diseases.” And that is just equally absurd.
By eliminating all of those options, we are left with only one possible answer, namely that God accepts and loves each and everyone unconditionally, regardless of color and sexual orientation. Jesus accepted the poor and the crippled and the prostitutes. Would Jesus not have accepted gays as well? What makes them inherently different from the rest of us? Why should they in any way feel ashamed for the way nature has created them?
I posted a comment and I will repost it here as well.We have been taught that GOD created man in His Image, therefore he did create STRAIT and GAY people,END OF DISCUSSION!!!!!

From the citation upon being awarded the Silver Star:
The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Commander David John Sperling (NSN: 0-555189), United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as the Pilot of a jet aircraft while attached to Attack Squadron ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE (VA-153), embarked in U.S.S. CORAL SEA (CVA-43). On 25 October 1967, Commander Sperling flew as a major group leader in a coordinated Air Wing assault on the Phuc Yen Air Base near Hanoi, North Vietnam. Being the prime operating base for MiG fighter aircraft, Phuc Yen was defended by the most concentrated and formidable array of surface-to-air missiles, anti-aircraft artillery and automatic weapons to be found in all of North Vietnam. Courageously leading his group of attack aircraft over 120 miles of hostile territory into this bastion of defensive armor, Commander Sperling exhibited outstanding airmanship and unwavering determination while maneuvering for the highly vulnerable attack position. In spite of the unprecedented barrage of surface-to-air missiles and anti-aircraft fire, he calmly established the essential bombing pattern and delivered his ordnance with exceptional accuracy on the revetted enemy airplanes to destroy or damage several parked MiG aircraft. His resolute actions and professional skill set the tone for the remainder of his force and succeeded in turning a potentially disastrous situation into a highly successful assault on the enemy. Commander Sperling's gallant and inspirational leadership upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Robert Raymond Scott joined the U.S. Navy in 1938. Was was assigned to the U.S.S. California and was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. On December 7, 1941 the California was hit by a torpedo during the attack. While other personnel were evacuated, Machinist's Mate First Class Scott remained at his station. He didn't survive. For his actions he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. And the U.S. Navy named the destroyer escort USS Scott (DE-214) in his honor in 1943.
From his citation:
For conspicuous devotion to duty, extraordinary courage and complete disregard of his own life, above and beyond the call of duty, during the attack on the Fleet in Pearl Harbor by Japanese forces on 7 December 1941. The compartment, in the U.S.S. California, in which the air compressor, to which Scott was assigned as his battle station, was flooded as the result of a torpedo hit. The remainder of the personnel evacuated that compartment but Scott refused to leave, saying words to the effect "This is my station and I will stay and give them air as long as the guns are going."

This email is the nutshell version. More details here if interested…
LinkyTools has grown at an outrageous pace. As hundreds (thousands?) of you know, I personally take care of all customer service. I listen, I help, I improve and I take care of my subscriber-blogging friends. But… the expense and time have gotten completely out of hand. Donations don't happen. Ads are not producing money, the advertising scene is worn out. The hosting expense, customer service (me) and maintenance of Linky Tools is simply unsustainable as a 'free service'.
I have funded Linky Tools out of my own personal pocket. I can no longer afford either the growing expense or the unpaid time. I know charging for the service is going to cost me a lot of users, maybe most, but I would rather provide a great tool and personal service for a smaller number of people who know Linky Tools is worth a small yearly fee ($24.00). That's two one dollar bills a month. People lose more change under their car seats and couch. Subscribe here…
If you just thought 'no way, I'll find a free service' then be sure to check out the list of new stuff that is coming (below), and the testimonials at the bottom of this message stating how much new traffic and benefit Linky Tools has been to blogs.
This is the best linky system on the Internet. I am constantly adding new tools and features. The tools, the traffic it brings you, the web links back to you, the increased exposure on the Internet from the blog directory, blog hops and lists… all for about half a cup of coffee a month. Beside all the great Linky Tools, you're going to get this NEW STUFF too in the coming weeks:
* Optional email notifications when someone enters a link on your list
* Click stats on your links, and summary stats on your account
* Blog party (meme, carnival, etc) directory
* Linky Tools Blog Rankings System
* Linky Tools Reference Desk
* Add a Bible Verse or inspiration quote to your Linky list
* A multi-list creator function (example: create 20 lists with one click, scheduled in intervals)
As always you'll get personal service from me when you have a need, idea or comment, featured placement in the Linky Tools Blog and your blog posts, stories and ads in SeriousLife Magazine upon request and approval.
NEEDLESS TO SAY I SENT A REPLY TO THE EFFECT THAT BRENT WILL NOT RECEIVE ONE PENNY FROM ME,and so my account will just disappear.besides I never could get it to work right for me anyway.
I am on a fixed income and still have a house note amongst other things that eat up my monthly income. Yes 24.00 bucks a years is not much.but the service has been FREE.
