The Blogger's Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.

a fun outing.

Celestine and I decided to have a runaway day. We went to a little place in the town of COPLEY, Ohio called SHISLER'S CHEESE HOUSE  Here is the Link. We were out about 3 1/2 hours round trip. We had lunch there and it was fun. Then on the way home we stopped at a Dairy Queen where we shared a Earthquake Sundae.

"Am I a hero? I don't know.  Yeah. I'll be a hero.  I'll go for that. Yeah."

Wednesday Hero profiled the Code Talkers way back in 2005.  But this week it is honoring Cpl. Lloyd Oliver.  Cpl. Oliver was one of the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers.  He joined the Marines in 1942 at the age of 19 because he wanted to serve his country.  Which he did, proudly, for three years.  In 2001 he received the Congressional Gold Medal for being one of the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers.  He passed away on March 16 of pancreatitis.  Cpl. Oliver was only one of two remaining original Navajo Code Talkers.

Not only have we lost a great man, a brave man, but a piece of history is another step closer to being gone forever.  We must keep them, and their place in it, alive for future generations.

You can read more about Cpl. Lloyd Oliver here and here.

National Medal of Honor Day.

The United States Congress has designated March 25th of each year as NATIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR DAY, a day dedicated to Medal of Honor recipients. (Public Law 101-564) was conceived in the State of Washington. The date was chosen to highlight this special day because it was on March 25, 1863 that the first Medals of Honor were presented...to six members of Andrews' Raiders.

The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the United States Government. It is bestowed on members of the United States armed forces who distinguish themselves "conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States." As the award citation includes the phrase "in the name of Congress", it is sometimes erroneously called the Congressional Medal of Honor, however the official title is the Medal of Honor.

On this day, please display our Flag and thank our men and women in uniform. Join me in prayer of thanks for all who are brave enough to protect our nation.

REST IN PEACE,CLEOPATRA.

SCREEN LEGEND ELIZABETH TAYLOR HAS PASSED AWAY.
PICTURED HERE IS HER AS CLEOPATRA.
Elizabeth Taylor, the violet-eyed film goddess whose sultry screen persona, stormy personal life and enduring fame and glamour made her one of the last of the old-fashioned movie stars and a template for the modern celebrity, died Wednesday at age 79. She was surrounded by her four children when she died of congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she had been hospitalized for about six weeks, said publicist Sally Morrison.

While many view snipers as the hidden (safe) threats in war based on their forays in First Person Shooter video games and movies like Saving Private Ryan and Enemy at The Gates, the fact of the matter is that snipers like any other soldiers in war are very successible to danger – especially in the case of Sergeant Ed Eaton’s brave protection and rescue of comrade in arms Major Mike Perkins when he had fallen injured in a night assault during the Vietnam war 1969

You can read more about Sgt. Eaton here.  A quick caveat though.  In doing research for this post this is the best site I could find for information on Sgt. Eaton.  It's not a site that I would normally link to for Wednesday Hero, but, like I said, it has the best information.  There's nothing really bad on it, but it may have some posts that some may not like.

I got this email and wanted to share it.

New way to get swindled!
Using the "clear" button when
Using credit/debit card?
Read this note very carefully.
I did not know about the clear button, but I will be pushing the clear button before I swipe my gas or debit card and after just to be safe.

People are getting really desperate due to the constantly rising gas prices.   A friend just told me about something that happened to one of his coworkers.
She used her credit/debit card to purchase gas at the pump (like most of us do).  She received her receipt like normal. However, when she checked her statement, there were 2  $50.00 charges added in addition to her purchase.  Upon investigation, she found out that because she did not press the 'clear' button on the pump, the employee inside the store was able to use her card to purchase his/her own gas!
To keep this from happening, after you get your receipt, you must press the 'CLEAR' button or your information will be stored until the next customer inserts their card. Be sure to tell all your friends/family so that this doesn't happen to them. I had never noticed the clear button but I got gas the other day and sure enough it is there.  I shall be using it from now on.

to kill or not to kill

To kill or not to kill...... The computer that is. Yesterday I had to kill the main computer I spent most of the evening trying to put stuff back in like my Brother printer,my computer games(the computer says the games are installed but are NOT!) and  assorted odds and ends. well I am having some success but not a whole lot of that. the last time this piece of wires, and different hardware acted up it took killing it twice in 2 days.in the task bar the printer is not being shown as  install but is.On this computer I cannot watch the You Tube videos on the You Tube site but I can off the site  via someones blog, the back up computer plays the videos with out a problem. So that leads me to believe that there still is something not right in this thingy. I know I cannot afford to take it to a repair shop nor can I afford a new computer.so I'm almost at the stage of wanting to pull my hair out(AGAIN).
what you see is a screen capture that I did of the You Tube playing the video,as you can see the video is missing even though the music is playing.
I am at the wits end trying to figure out why this is happening. I even uninstalled and reinstoled the abobe player thinking that might have been the problem. No such Luck. any suggestions???
