Another Navajo Code Talker has passed away. Tom Jones, Jr. passed away on May 12.
Be warned, reading the article below will make you angry. The conditions these men, these veterans, live in is just unforgivable. It saddened me to read this, not only as an Indian, but as an American.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives just so others may get to enjoy freedom. For that I am proud to call them Hero.

If You Can't Do Something Smart, Do Something Right
Okay, I said this over at Steve's but I'll say it again. They gave him a house, but after all these years it's in disrepair. Didn't this man work after the war? It just isn't making sense why he was living this way. I don't get it. We do maintenance on our home all the time (as most of us do). If we didn't we'd be living just like this at some point.
ReplyDeleteMay he rest in eternal peace. :)
Sandee, there is such a thing as owning a home and working but not having the extra money to keep it up,Celestine and I found ourselves in that place a long time ago with our first house. we had to barrow monety to replace the roof.
