MY HAMMERED DULCIMER

MY HAMMERED DULCIMER
There are various Hammered Dulcimer postings from YouTube of different tunes, and NO I AM NOT PLAYING ANY OF THESE TUNES.Maybe some day when I have the equipment to do so.I have included a link to my You Tube Channel.I invite you to go and watch any of my videos on the site also check out some of the different channels I subscribe to.

ABOUT THE HAMMERED DULCIMER

The hammered dulcimer is an ancient trapezoidal musical instrument played by striking the strings with wooden hammers.

Originating in the Middle East about 2000 years ago, English soldiers brought the instrument back to England after their failed attempt to conquer Persia during the Crusades about 1000 years ago. Dulcimers have many names in many lands: santur in the Middle East, yang q'in in China, hackbrett in Austria, zither in Germany, and cymbalom in Hungary. The name "dulcimer" is derived from Latin, meaning "sweet sound". Hammered dulcimers were popular in England during the reign of James I, when the Bible was translated into English as the King James Bible. The dulcimer was mentioned in the Book of Daniel 3:5 among other instruments "..the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music..." The dulcimer was later mechanized to become what we now know as the harpsichord which later evolved in the piano.

THE SERENITY PRAYER

THE SERENITY PRAYER
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen. - Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)

First Lieutenant Randall Lee Ashby
Second Platoon, Company B, 317th Engineer Battalion, 2d Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Corps of Engineers) Randall Lee Ashby, United States Army, for gallantry while serving as the Platoon Leader of Second Platoon, Company B, 317th Engineer Battalion, 2d Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized). First Lieutenant Ashby consistently demonstrated valor in executing his engineer missions as the lead sapper platoon leader for Task Force 2-69 Armor. Serving with Team ASSASSIN, he voluntarily executed dangerous missions in order to contribute to the engineer's success. First Lieutenant Ashby's personal bravery and selfless actions are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, Third Infantry Division "Rock of the Marne," and the United States Army. NARRATIVE TO ACCOMPANY AWARD: For gallantry in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the country of Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. First Lieutenant Ashby distinguished himself while serving as Platoon Leader with Second Platoon, Company B, 317th Engineer Battalion, and attached to 2d Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized). First Lieutenant Ashby exhibited extreme gallantry on multiple occasions in over 25 days of continuous combat operations. He spearheaded engineer movement for the Division for roughly 200 kilometers to OBJ CLAY, the Highway 1 Bridge across the Euphrates located to the west of An Nasiriyah. On the night of 21 March 2003, First Lieutenant Ashby led the engineer effort at OBJ CLAY under Team Assassin by providing the first reconnaissance of this key bridge as elements of the Iraqi 11th Infantry Division defended the area. First Lieutenant Ashby, while under fire, conducted a difficult classification mission and ensured the safe passage of an armored company onto OBJ CLAY NORTH. Moreover, after the Task Force had established a tactical assembly area to the west, First Lieutenant Ashby returned to OBJ CLAY to reconnoiter a construction bridge adjacent to the Highway 1 Bridge amid enemy artillery fire from the northern shore. Later, as Team Assassin conducted a dangerous linkup with elements of 3-7 Cavalry south of the city of Al Kifl, First Lieutenant Ashby directed his platoon's emplacement of vital blocking obstacles to prevent enemy penetration of the company's sector for more than seventy hours of continuous enemy contact. In addition, under his leadership 2d Platoon destroyed 300 pounds of TNT intended by the enemy for use on the Al Kifl Bridge. In southern Al Kifl, his platoon gained entry using demolitions to a water-bottling factory with a water supply greatly needed by both the Task Force and the local populous. First Lieutenant Ashby again distinguished himself on 1 April 2003 by emplacing explosive obstacles along RTE VENEZUELA to the east of the key city of Karbala at OBJ LEE. He led the emplacement with Team Assassin under fire from Saddam Fedayeen RPG ambushes and T-62 tanks. On 6 April 2003 again with Team Assassin as the lead element of the Task Force's attack into the Taji region north of Baghdad against Republican Guard and Saddam Fedayeen units, First Lieutenant Ashby personally destroyed with, MK-19 fire, eight enemy RPG teams and dismounted enemy soldiers over a 55 kilometer attack to OBJ MONTY. He displayed calm leadership following a fatal enemy RPG strike on one of his M113 armored personnel carriers, providing stability for his men as they treated two other soldiers wounded in action. While escorting a D9 Dozer, a Division high value asset, to OBJ MONTY, First Lieutenant Ashby protected the dozer from an enemy vehicle intent on ramming them. First Lieutenant Ashby's personal bravery as the lead sapper platoon leader for Task Force 2-69 Armor are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, Third Infantry Division "Rock of the Marne," and the United States Army.

Wednesday's Hero

Wednesday Hero has been mainly about honoring the Men & Women of the United States military and bringing to light what they do for us, but it's also honored those who've done something to help those same Men & Women. This week I want to introduce Jack Singer of Warwick, N.Y. You see, Jack recently celebrated his 10th birthday, and he did something very cool for a very good cause. He broke the world record for wearing the most pairs of underwear. 215 in fact. But why did he do this? To help raise money for Sgt. Eddie Ryan, a marine who was injured in Iraq five years ago. Now, think back to when you were 10 years old. How many of us could say that they would have forwent birthday presents to raise money for a good cause? I don't think I would have. Jack Singer is, hands down, one of the coolest kids on the planet and I'm proud to honor him.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

A good day.

Today was a good day for me. Celestine took me to visit with my Dad, and we took him a Red Rose for Father's Day.
I also managed to get some quality Hammered Dulcimer practicing in. I am still working on relearning a simple version of Golden Slippers. When I get it really good, I will use our camera phone to record my playing it and post it to my YouTube site as well as a blog posting.

Sunday Thought.

Happy Father's day

to all the Dads out ther I hope your day is a great one.To me it is just another day.I lost my Dad in 1984 and I was not able to have children.

Wednesday's Hero

Tech Sergeant Victor R. Adams
Tech Sergeant Victor R. Adams
20th Special Operations Squadron
U.S. Air Force
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Title 10, Section 8742, United States Code, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Cross to Technical Sergeant Victor R. Adams (AFSN: 13533712), United States Air Force, for extraordinary heroism in military operations against an opposing armed force while serving as a UH-1F Helicopter Aerial Gunner of the 20th Special Operations Squadron, Nha Trang Air Base, Vietnam, in action near Duc Co, Republic of Vietnam, on the night of 26 - 27 November 1968. On that date, Sergeant Adams' aircraft was shot down by hostile ground fire and crashed in dense jungle. Disregarding his own injuries and the imminence of hostile activity, he assisted the co-pilot from the burning helicopter and returned to rescue the trapped personnel. He succeeded in pulling another man from the wreckage, before the severity of the fire and subsequent explosions forced him to abandon further rescue efforts. Through his superb airmanship, aggressiveness, and extraordinary heroism, in the face of hostile forces, Sergeant Adams reflected the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Saying Goodby to a legend.REST IN PEACE JIMMY DEAN

Jimmy Ray Dean[2] (August 10, 1928 – June 13, 2010)[1] was an American country music singer, television host, actor and businessman. Although he may be best known today as the creator of the Jimmy Dean Sausage brand, he became a national television personality in the 1960s, rising to fame for his 1961 country crossover hit "Big Bad John". His acting career included a supporting role in the 1971 James Bond movie, Diamonds Are Forever. He lived near Richmond, Virginia and was nominated for the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010, although he died before being formally inducted.

A Bad Day

Today has not been a good day for me. I seemed to be confused most of the day. It started out with me putting blueberry's into my cereal bowl instead of the spinner to clean them, then I grabbed soap instead of the veggie wash that we use to clean the berries.

I asked Sandee to do something for me than I got confused in what I wanted done. I also went to my be measured for new glasses and had a few seizures. The only nice thing about today is that it is almost over.

Aww...Monday.

WTF THIS IS BULL.

I GOT THIS AS AN EMAIL,AND IT IS TIME TO END THE BULLSHIT.

Pretty amazing isn't it? It is time to haul the trash out.

According to

the Trustees for the Social Security Administration,

" THERE WILL NOT BE A COST OF LIVING INCREASE FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS IN SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS.

ADDITIONALLY THEY WILL RAISE YOUR CO-PAY FOR YOUR RX MEDICARE BENEFITS " !

They, the Congress (BOTH "REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRATS TOGETHER") say no increase is warranted because of the losses in gross national product and other cute things..

NOW SPORTS FANS

THIS IS THE ONE THAT WILL FLIP YOU OUT!!

THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION IS FUNDING TWENTY FOUR MILLION DOLLARS-- LET ME REPEAT THAT AMOUNT...

SO YOU UNDERSTAND IT $ 24,000,000.00 DOLLARS FOR NEW ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS PROCESSING FOR OUR CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS !!

THEY ARE OBTAINING THESE FUNDS

and

I QUOTE DIRECTLY FROM THE SOCIAL SECURITY WEBSITE...

"THIS MONEY WILL BE COMING FROM THE SAVINGS TO BE GENERATED

FROM WITHHOLDING "COST OF LIVING INCREASES FOR 2010 & 2011

in SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS FOR THE ELDERLY

AND A $2.00 INCREASE ON ALL MEDICARE RX BENEFIT CO-PAY"

Please pass this to ALL your friends and have them

"PROTEST TO THE IDIOTS WE ELECTED TO CONGRESS"

who by the way, have just voted themselves ANOTHER 3% SALARY INCREASE!!!

We must put a stop to this outright thievery!

It is THE CONGRESS AND THE SENATE, BOTH REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRATS, WE CAN'T FIRE THEM, BUT WE SURE CAN NOT RE-ELECT THEM,

and WE CAN IMPEACH THEM

or DEMAND RECALL ELECTIONS !!!

HOW ABOUT WE ALL GET TOGETHER AND DUMP THESE CLOWNS.

Just watch.

They will spend this money and find the software doesn't work,

dump the whole thing and go back to the old steam driven system

just like they did with air traffic control several years ago.

Don't worry though, they've got health care all worked out.
So here is what we CAN do.....

All I ask is that you consider the suggestion here.

The entire Congress of the United States is corrupt.

And I mean both Houses and I mean both major parties.
I realize that a few Members of each House are trustworthy,

but,

as a group they are absolutely the most corrupt bunch

to ever disgrace our Nation.
In November of 2010

the entire House of Representatives will stand for re-election;

all 435 of them.

One third of the Senate,

a total of 33 of them, will also stand for re-election.

Vote every incumbent out.
And I mean every one of them.

No matter their Party affiliation.

Let's start all over in the House of Representatives with 435 people

who have absolutely no experience in running that body,

with no political favors owed to anyone but their own constituents.

Let's make them understand that they work for us...
They are answerable to us

and they simply have to run that body with some common sense.
Two years later, in 2012,

vote the next third of the incumbents in the Senate out.
We can do the same thing in 2014 and,

by that time we will have put all new people in that body as well.

We, the People,

have got to take this Country back and we HAVE to do it peacefully..
That's what the Framers of our Constitution envisioned.

I am also suggesting term limits on the NEW BUNCH –

8 YEARS FOR REPRESENTATIVES AND 12 YEARS OF SENATORS.

NO EXCEPTIONS.

THE LONGER THEY STAY IN OFFICE THE MORE POWER THEY GET

AND THEY LOVE IT AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET RE-ELECTED.

WE HAVE TERM LIMITED THE PRESIDENT –

NOW LET'S TERM LIMIT THE LEGISLATORS.

Please,

if you love this Country,

send this (as I have done) to absolutely everyone

whose email address appears in your address book..
This thing can permeate this Country in no time.

Let's make it happen.**

VOTE THE POWER ABUSERS OUT...

LET'S TAKE AMERICA BACK !!!

God Bless the U.S.A.!!!

In God We Trust!!!

A Thought.

I got this as an email and Just had to share it.
 Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.

We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around
full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.

As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that
successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.
Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,

so ... Love the people who treat you right.
Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a  garbage-free day!

A can of worms.

Boy did I open a can of worms.I will not do that again on THIS BLOG.NOR WILL I DO IT ON NUTCASE1. I have taken my loonytoon blog private.I have my reasons. To my Sister Sandy,I will never post any thing about our family again on these blogs.I hope that this will make you happy. Attached is her email to me.

Mike - I posted this comment to the long list of the commentary about Allesan and the baptism.  Please find it in your heart to post this....and/or delete the negative comments you made about her.   That was very hurtful and unfair to her.  She is a very good mother and you are ruining her reputation (personally and professionally).  By your own admission, your seizures are getting worse and worse....look at what happened here last Saturday.
You have a "Spiritual Sunday" and prayer requests on your blog.   My prayer request would be for you to be a little more forgiving and not take things so personal.  Please agan, find it in your heart to delete those comments that make Allesan out to me some kind of horrible mother.  That is totally not true and imagine how Allesan feels about people thinking she is some kind of monster and hoping that her child would be taken away.....really Mike....
Mike - I am so deeply hurt and upset that you would even think that we did not want you there.  By a post that you put out there last week about the seizures you had here alone when there were only 5 people at my house, you admit that your seizures are out of hand.  I had also offered to you (which you didn't bother to post) that I had invited you and Cel over for lunch so that we could take your picture with the baby.  So your bloggers now feel that we didn't want you there and we were "wierded" out.  There was a young family that was also attending the baptism...imagine how those little children would have been scared....not to mention that the restaurant would for sure have called 911 upon the first inidcation of one of your seizures.  I have witnessed many of them and you know yourself how difficult it is for Cel to even assist you during your seizures.  I find it very hurtful that your bloggers would think that Allesan is an unfit mother and then to mention her full name.  I ask that you retract your comments (or delete them, even better).

Sunday Song

WORLD WAR 11: D-DAY

The D-Day operation of June 6, 1944 brought together the land, air and sea forces of the allied armies in what became known as the largest invasion force in human history. The operation, given the codename OVERLORD, delivered five naval assault divisions to the beaches of Normandy, France. The beaches were given the code names UTAH, OMAHA, GOLD, JUNO and SWORD. The invasion force included 7,000 ships and landing craft manned by over 195,000 naval personnel from eight allied countries. Almost 133,000 troops from England, Canada and the United States landed on D-Day. Casualties from the three countries during the landing numbered 10,300. By June 30th, over 850,000 men, 148,000 vehicles, and 570,000 tons of supplies had landed on the Normandy shores. Fighting by the brave soldiers, sailors and airmen of the allied forces western front, and Russian forces on the eastern front, led to the defeat of German Nazi forces. On May 7, 1945, German General Alfred Jodl signed an unconditional surrender at Reims, France.

Wednesday's Hero

Sgt. James R. Graham III
Sgt. James R. Graham III
25 years old from Coweta, Oklahoma
4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward)
August 1, 2005

U.S. Marine Corps
Sgt. James R. Graham II was killed in a suicide car bombing near Hit, Iraq, about 85 miles northwest of Baghdad, on August 1, 2005. He was was assigned to the Marine Reserve Unit in Broken Arrow, an anti-tank company. The military said Graham was "conducting combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom" when the bomber struck. He is survived by a wife and two children.

Graham had received three medals for his time served in Iraq, including the Good Conduct Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the Selective Marine Corps Reserve medal, said Christopher Logan, media officer for the Marine Forces Reserve. Graham will receive more honors as well, including a Purple Heart, Logan said.

Betty Willhoite, a next-door neighbor, said she has fond memories of Graham playing with his boys. "He would always be out there showing the oldest how to kick a soccer ball into the net," Willhoite said. "He was a nice man. He worked very hard and was such a good person. I just hate to see this happen to such a nice, young family. He felt like it was his duty."

Willhoite said she heard the news from Graham's wife, who was out in the yard. Willhoite said she asked the family pastor to add them to a church prayer list. "He was very gentle and a great father, a little on the quiet side," Willhoite said. "I've never heard him raise his voice."

And the day just keeping better.

Celestine went out to do some shopping and while she was out she had a major low blood sugar. The store that she was at had a place to sit down near the checkout.she sat there for almost an hour before any one relizied that she was having a problem. She had taken 4 gluecose tablets that she carries just in case.they did not help much paramedics had to be called to the scene.they got her blood sugar back up,they wanted to take her to the ER,and she refused Her sister was called top come and get her and bring her home.we will get someone to take her to get the car tomarrow, and on this note we are going to bed.

In addition to the last posting.

A thought on why I'm in a tail spin. Part of the problem was caused by the viruses I got from Entrecard members. I DO NOT fault the different bloggers, I fault the security system of Entrecard.

My seizures have been a major concern for me as well. Saturday we had a get together at my sisters house for brunch. I was hugging my younger sister when I had a seizure that caused my muscles to tighten up and was no fun for her. Both my brother-in-laws had to pry my arms off my sister my hold was that tight. Now that is depressing.

Doing what I need to do.

I'm doing house cleaning on my Google Reader.and transfering  blogs to my blog rolls and deleting those blogs that seem to be abandoned by the authors.( not posting).I need to do this AGAIN. I enjoy blogging and reading blogs.I REALLY DO!There are days that it is all too much and I have to trim down my reader.
I am sorry,it is really bad when I just want to play my games or watch PBS  and other Shows online only. This all has  to do with being Bi-Polar and the Seizures they are taking their toll.

If you want to have a laugh you need to be.....

HERE   I hope you enjoy it.

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.
