The Blogger's Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.

The Beatles - Yellow Submarine Flashback Friday

I hope every one enjoys the song.

where do you belong??

You belong in the Baby Boomer Generation
You fit in best with people born between 1943 and 1960.
You are optimistic, rebellious, and even a little self centered.
You still believe that you will change the world.
You detest authority and rules. Deep down, you're a non conformist.

A Rant.

we got almost a foot of snow today. The thing that ealyy P.O'd me was that our snow removal people, did diddly squat most of the day.It was a good thing that we did not have a medical emergency in any of our 40 units of our condo.the street was unplowed and so were the driveways several of us called to complain to our manangement company about the lack of service and lo and behold the bozzo finally did show up.,but instead of useing a full sized plow this fool used a small plow attached to a bobcat. Where is this guy's brain???

Yeah it's like that.

with temps in the single digits this weekend, yeah it's like that.

just in case you noticed.News from Golch central.

from the computer of Golch Central.
I decided to add my flickr account to this blog from the now dead wordpress blog.

Now for a postscript from Saturday. When we woke up on Saturday the house was colder (55*) than it is normally set for(70*).the furnace would not work right so we called our furnace people to come out to see why the furnace did not want to work right. with a little TLC from the repairman (and a few choice words from me).the furnace was up and running again.

A meme to the 5 th

The Charles F. Mercer includes superstructure features typical of the double decked packet boats that plied the C&O during 19th and early 20th centuries.

These features include an enclosed cabin and deckhouses running substantially the length of the boat with an additional topside, day deck built into the cabin roof and, in turn, covered by a single continuous, canvas canopy.

For purposes of longevity and maintenance, the Mercer is built on a painted aluminum hull with wooden rails and a fully cedar super-structure. The Mercer is 57' at water line with a beam of 13'.

Twenty to thirty feet shorter than the maximum waterline length permitted by the depth of the C&O lift locks (about 85'), these dimensions are authentic to packet boats of the era which were typically smaller, lighter and faster than contemporary freight and line boats.

In addition, the 57 foot length permits the boat to be turned 180° in the canal waters proximate to Lock 20. This fact, in turn, permitted the boat to built on a single rudder design, in fact more common to the packet boats of the Canal's most active era.

J.C. Tagged me for this meme.

Here are the rules: Open a document or photo folder, choose the 5th folder and then the 5th photo in the folder, do a post describing the photo, tag five friends to do the meme.

Prayer request for this officer's family.

BOSTON HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A 24-year-old Boston Heights police officer was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident.
Police said the officer was helping clear debris from an earlier accident when he was hit by a truck.
Police identify the officer as Jarod Dean, of Hudson. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Dean had parked his patrol car in the left lane of Route 8 with the overhead lights on.
After he got out of the cruiser, the truck driver, 51-year-old John Gavelek, of Garfield Heights, struck Dean.
Gavelek told investigators he didn't see Dean in the road.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this point.
Dean had been an officer with the Boston Heights Police Department for six months. He was previously an officer with the Wyndham Police Department.

Let's keep the family in our prayers as they cope with the lose of their family member, and the Boson Heights Police dept.as they cope with the lose of a fellow officer.

something to try,from Nancy.

Now you can make your own individual little treat right in a normal coffee mug. This could result as a seriously dangerous problem--especially for you chocolate cake lovers.

Its called the:

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

A small splash of vanilla extract

One large coffee mug.

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add egg and mix thoroughly

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well

Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate of desired.

Eat!!! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous)

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world??

Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!!

I got this from one of my friends Nancy.so if you try this and like go tell her so!

Martin Luther King, Jr.'s last speech

he was killed the next day.

Where the Hell are Matt's Outtakes

The Original Gratitude Dance! (www.TheGratiDudes.com)

with the post I just put up I thought that I would lighten things up a bit.

I have a prayer request.

I have a prayer request to make on behalf of a blogging friend. She (C.C.) needs our prayers, she is going through a rough patch in her life. I now that road that she is on and needs prayers., I battle that road a lot myself.
Most of the time I do not share my feelings as my friend does,But I have found myself on that road way too many times.
This is why my blog is so important to me,so I can ask for morale support when needed for a friend or prayers that are needed.

A prayer request

This Prayer request comes from an friend of mine who sent me this as an email.
We urgently need your prayers here in Costa Rica. Yesterday at 1:21 p.m. we were hit by the most damaging earthquake Costa Rica has had in 118 years. It registered at 6.2 and the epicenter was some 10 kilometers from Poas Volcano. The damage is extensive due to the mountainous nature of the area. There are 14 known dead so far as of 7 a.m. today with dozens missing and feared buried under landslides. It is raining in the mountains this morning which is seriously hampering rescue operations, and increasing the possibility of more landslides. Entire communities are cut off as many miles of roads totally disappeared and bridges are gone as well. The Red Cross is trying to get into those areas by helicopter and the latest report is that the U.S. military in Honduras is sending down two large helicopters to help airlift people out. So far we have had over 1500 aftershocks and OVSICORI (the earthquake/volcano people) are advising that this may go on for an indefinite period of time. The epicenter was 35 kilometers NNW of San Jose where we live. We were shaken up quite a bit, but suffered no major damage. The quake was caused by movement of a local fault system (not tectonic or subductive). Geologists are keeping a close watch on Poas Volcano because the epicenter was quite close to the principle crater. Will try to keep everyone updated as much as possible.

A least I finely got it to work.
